Context/Need: Palmer Bus Service provides transportation for many school districts in Minnesota and employs over 1,000 people, most of whom are school bus drivers. Employees are required to take Bloodborne Pathogen training yearly to satisfy OSHA requirements. Palmer Bus Service's CEO has identified a need for a new, high quality video training to satisfy the annual Bloodborne Pathogen OSHA requirement. Palmer Bus's CEO requests a training that is meaningful, engaging and instructionally sound with respect to BBPs and Palmer Bus Services to increase learner engagement and retention. The training should also be authentic and practical for Palmer Bus Service employees. In addition, the CEO seeks to increase variety in Palmer Bus Service’s training resources and seeks a new quiz to offer variety to the assessments used.
Solution: To target the overall business problem, a new training video and quiz was developed that meets OSHA Bloodborne Pathogon training requirements and uses adult learning theory, sound instructional strategies, and authentic resources specific to Palmer Bus Services. Authentic video clips and pictures of Palmer Bus Service buses, equipment and procedures combine with important BBP information to deliver meaningful, high-level Bloodborne Pathogen training for the employees of Palmer Bus Service.
Course Review: A quiz assessment will be used to review the effectiveness of the course and to meet OSHA requirements.
